So, You Want to Ride a Motorcycle?

So, You Want to Ride a Motorcycle?

Fear is inevitable when you’re stepping into a new version of yourself. But the key isn’t to banish it; it’s to ride alongside it.”

Table of Contents

Have you ever felt the pull of a roaring engine, the wind whipping through your hair, and the unshakable allure of two wheels? Maybe you’ve scrolled through Instagram, eyes glued to photos of women owning the open road, looking like rebels who’ve stepped out of a dream. And maybe you’ve thought: Could that be me?

Spoiler alert: It absolutely could.

For many of us, the idea of riding a motorcycle — especially a chopper — feels both intoxicating and out of reach. Fear (your ego) creeps in, whispering questions like, “What if I’m not strong enough?” or “What if I’m not brave enough?” And then there’s the more insidious voice of the patriarchy, perpetuating the myth that motorcycles and freedom are a boys’ club. Spoiler alert #2: They’re not.

Conquering Fear

Riding a motorcycle isn’t just about hopping on and twisting the throttle. It’s an act of self-discovery. It’s about leaning into your fear and proving to yourself that you’re capable of more than you ever imagined. The first time you feel the rumble of the engine beneath you, it’s electric. And yes, learning to ride takes time, patience, and a good dose of humility. But every wobble, every near-stall, is part of the transformation.

In 2020, I was a Christian who had just graduated from a Bible collage with her BA in criminal justice and a minor in Bible studies. Sometime between 2020 and 2021, something inside of me snapped (maybe it was my mortality wake-up call that was COVID, or maybe it was my Saturn return starting, who knows), and I had an awakening; I bore witness to the atrocity that was poisoning the nation-Christian nationalism. In the blink of an eye, I found myself questioning the entire foundation of my life. Why the fuck would god care and base his judgment FOR THE WHOLE ENTIRE WORLD on the current happenings of America? Freedom, Christianity, and right-winged tendencies became so fetishized (if only I knew then what I know now). It was as though people were expecting the book of Revelations to play out based on the current happenings in America? Like, get a grip people. America is not and is far from the greatest thing to ever happen to the world.

That was the moment I started to deconstruct. It took years before I would ever bring myself to actually be able to simply think “maybe god isn’t real,” and “maybe I’m not a Christian anymore.” Remember, I was raised to believe god was all-knowing (think Santa Claus level of omnipresent) and I was quiet honestly scared of being smited the very second those thoughts formed in my brain. That’s how they get ya, they scare the hell out of you (no pun intended)! But that can be a discussion for another day.

Once I was able to hone in on what my greatest fear was-going to hell- I had my get out of jail free card. I began to study hell. I used my formal education, resources, and tools to question e v e r y t h i n g there was to know about it. I looked up the original word, translations, context, the geography surrounding the matter and eventually I had gained such a deep understanding of the topic, it was impossible to ignore the  plot holes anymore; I understood that it had been 1. taken out of context 2. mistranslated, and 3. used as the single worst strongarm that the majority of humanity has ever known. If I could conquer the greatest fear of my life, I could ride a god-damned motorcycle.

Fear is inevitable when you’re stepping into a new version of yourself. But the key isn’t to banish it; it’s to ride alongside it. What you’ll find is that every time you face your fear, it shrinks just a little bit more.

Breaking the Chains of “Should”

Let’s address the elephant in the room: motorcycles are often marketed as a guy’s domain. Women riders are often portrayed as passengers, not the ones gripping the handlebars. But here’s the thing: you don’t need anyone’s permission to chase your dreams. Let me say that again-YOU DONT NEED ANYONES PERMISSION TO CHASE YOUR DREAMS! The world will try to tell you who you should be, what you should look like, and how you should act. Riding a chopper is a bold way of saying, “Thanks, but no thanks.” If you don’t control your thoughts, someone else will.

When you get on that bike, you’re claiming your space. You’re rewriting the narrative. And trust me, there’s nothing more empowering than that.

The Journey to Yourself

Riding a chopper or motorcycle isn’t just about the destination; it’s about the journey of becoming. It’s about stepping into a version of yourself that you didn’t know existed. You’ll learn how to trust yourself — your instincts, your strength, your resilience. You’ll embrace the helmet hair, the grease under your nails, and the fact that sometimes you’ll make mistakes. And in the process, you’ll discover an evolved version of yourself that’s been lying dormant all along.

Getting Started

So, where do you begin? Start by learning the basics. Take a motorcycle safety course. Talk to riders who inspire you (Instagram is a great place to connect with other women who ride). Don’t worry about having the “right” gear or the “coolest” bike. Just start. Your journey is your own, and it doesn’t need to look like anyone else’s.

And when it comes to choosing your hog? Find something that speaks to your soul. Maybe it’s an old-school Harley with a rigid frame or a sleek, soft tail beauty that screams personality. The bike you ride should be an extension of who you are. And if you want to build? FUCKING GO FOR IT!

Evolving Into the New You

Riding a motorcycle is more than a hobby — it’s a lifestyle and a mindset. It’s a way of saying, “I refuse to be boxed in.” When I started riding, it was a way for me to tell the world (and even a small repressed piece of myself)  “I am not going to live in fear of anything,” as well as the ever-satisfying, “FUCK YOU!” and middle finger to anyone who hasn’t processed their own toxic masculinity. The road will challenge you, but it will also reward you with a sense of freedom and self-assurance that’s hard to find anywhere else.

So, if you’ve always dreamed of riding a motorcycle, this is your sign. Go chase that dream. Because the world needs more women who refuse to play small, who take up space, and who embody the spirit of the open road.

Your badass future self is waiting. All you have to do is start the engine.

Well, Smack Me on the Ass and Call Me Marie Antoinette

Well, Smack Me on the Ass
and Call Me Marie Antoinette.

a discussion on finding some damn peace and quiet

"Do I keep trying to juggle both? Or do I just say fuck it and peace out from TikTok and Insta, even if the ban doesn’t happen?"

Shooting into 2025 like a bat outta hell, I’m standing in my living room absolutely drowning in thoughts about all the crap I have to do and all the crap I want to do. Here’s the rundown: one commission, two motorcycle paint jobs, two charity pieces, and a baby shower gift. Sounds like a lot, huh? It is.

You’re probably thinking, “You’re a full-time content creator, so you’ve got time, and you’re probably rolling in cash doing all that! You should be grateful!”

So, totally wrong. I’m only getting paid $100 for all of that. ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS. Why? Because apart from the ONE commission, everything else is either a charity piece, a gift, or work on family members’ bikes. And when you factor in the cost of materials, I’m making basically zilch.

Also, I’m not a full-time content creator. I also work 40 hours a week.

Look, I don’t do art for the money—most artists wouldn’t. And I definitely don’t create content for the money (that’s a whole other rant). But lately, I’ve been feeling like a hamster on a wheel. I’m exhausted, but my need to create and self-express is somehow stronger than my need to rest. Throw in my tattoo practice and my desire to get better at that, and yeah, it’s a lot.

Which brings me to this revelation: I need some fuckin’ peace and quiet.

Not trying to be such a poopy pants, I didn’t realize how stressed out I’ve been until I started writing all this down. If you’re creative, you probably get it—or at least, you can roll your eyes and relate a little. But seriously, I need to consume less.

When I started my social media accounts in 2023, it was all about pursuing art. And don’t get me wrong, I’ve found some amazing niche communities along the way. These people feel like part of my life now—my chopper and biker friends, my artist friends, my boho fashion friends. I can’t imagine NOT sharing my rides, my art, or my outfits with them. I love creating content, but lately, I’m wondering if it’s pulling me away from what I really wanna focus on: making art.

Social media does something to you, man. I’ve been on it since I was like 11 or 12. That’s over half my life of being influenced by other people’s opinions on art, bikes, style, travel, life—everything. And yeah, it’s shaped me (and let’s be real, it’s probably shaped you, too, whether you wanna admit it or not).

Now, with this whole TikTok ban looming, I’ve started imagining life with less social media and less internet. I fantasize about that cabin in Marie Antoinette that Kirsten Dunst went to with her little baby, just living a quiet, simple life—free from all the noise and demands.

Part of me kinda hopes the ban happens. But then I feel bad because TikTok has been a game-changer for so many people, myself included. It’s helped me find community, figure out who I am, and feel seen. Plus, the business side of this whole thing is a nightmare to think about. A TikTok ban would hit small businesses and artists HARD. Most of my commissions come from TikTok! Without it, I’d be stuck with Instagram, and let’s not even talk about that hot mess of an algorithm. My feed is just ads, AI, and AI ads.

So yeah, I’ve been spiraling a bit about what all this means for my art and my social media presence. Do I keep trying to juggle both? Or do I just say fuck it and peace out from TikTok and Insta, even if the ban doesn’t happen? I mean, I’m addicted to my phone, but I’d hate to lose the communities I’ve made online. Also, I live in rural America; no one around me gets my art.

I hate the internet and Meta and all the garbage that comes with it—but not as much as I love my online communities.

Maybe the answer is to just consume less and be more intentional about how I use my time online. I love making content (always have), and I wanna keep sharing my art because the world needs it.

I don’t have it all figured out yet, and that’s fine. I don’t need to decide anything right this second. For now, you can always find me here at Cult Bohème.

Got any thoughts on what a TikTok ban means for online art communities (or any communities)? Drop ’em in the comments. In the meantime, I’ll be working on some paintings and trying to be less of a stress case while leveling up my skills.

Leading the Moto Boho Revolution: Your Ultimate Guide to 2025’s Hottest Trend

Leading the
Moto Boho
Revolution:

Your Ultimate Guide
to 2025's Hottest Trend

"Moto boho isn’t just a style; it’s a declaration of freedom and individuality. It’s for the dreamers who crave adventure, the artists who see beauty in the unconventional, and the rebels who dare to be different, no hog necessary! (though it is encouraged!)"

Moto Boho: Leading the Charge into 2025

If you’ve ever felt torn between the delicate allure of bohemian lace and the rugged edge of leather and denim, let me be the first to introduce you to your new favorite aesthetic: moto boho. While I’ve always leaned into boho style—flowing silhouettes, earthy tones, and vintage finds—I just recently heard the term “moto boho,” and I gotta say, I feel seen. I’ve always known my personal style (my mom and I just referred to ourselves as hippies”) and our style is heavily intertwined with, and inspired by our love for motorcycles, choppers, and a lifestyle that thrives on grit and adventure.

According to Pinterest Predicts 2025, “It’s (moto boho) not just a look—it’s a lifestyle.” that captures the essence of freedom, self-expression, and a touch of rebellion. And here’s the best part: I’ve been living it for years, making me the blueprint for this movement. Let me take you on a ride through this aesthetic and show you how to embrace it for 2025.

What Is Moto Boho?

At its core, moto boho is a juxtaposition of “leather and lace.” It’s the art of balancing toughness and tenderness, functionality and flair. Think:

  • Rough denim jeans paired with a delicate lace top.
  • Vintage silk nighties styled over leather combat boots.
  • A true leather belt with a killer belt buckle.
  • Bandanas tied in your hair alongside skull jewelry and chunky rings.
  • Oversized leather jackets thrown over breezy maxi dresses.
  • Glowy makeup, sun kissed skin, and tousled hair, a natural consequence from riding in the wind and wearing a helmet.

Moto boho thrives on contrasts: it’s about mixing rugged, durable pieces with softer, more ethereal elements to create a look that’s as versatile as it is striking.

Even Marie Claire is hopping on board with moto boho and suggests to “simply opt for contrasting pieces in complementary colours, textures, and volumes in order to harmonise your look. Pair a lace maxi dress with a cropped leather jacket and biker boots, or opt for a flowy black top, a suede bag, and a pair of denim for a sleek look.”

Why Moto Boho Works for a Rough-and-Tumble Lifestyle

As someone who spends plenty of time outdoors and on the road, I’ve learned that my wardrobe needs to be more than just beautiful; it has to hold up against the elements. That’s why most of my pieces are thrifted, high-quality finds. Thrift stores, Poshmark, Depop, and Ebay are goldmines for unique, durable clothing with character. When you’re constantly on the go—whether riding motorcycles, exploring dusty trails, or braving unpredictable weather—your style needs to work as hard as you do. True moto boho pieces aren’t just pretty; they should be built to last.

How to Build Your Moto Boho Wardrobe

Ready to dive into the trend? Here are the essential building blocks for your moto boho wardrobe:

  1. Denim Staples
    • Look for high-quality, vintage denim that’s already proven it can stand the test of time.
    • Distressed jeans, overalls, and cutoff shorts are perfect foundational pieces.
  2. Leather Accents
    • A well-worn leather jacket is non-negotiable.
    • Leather combat boots, cowboy boots, or ankle boots add the perfect edge.
    • Incorporate leather belts with oversized buckles.
  3. Delicate Details
    • Lace camisoles and vintage silk slips bring softness to the look.
    • Sheer blouses and embroidered shawls add a romantic vibe.
  4. Accessories That Pop
    • Bandanas in bold patterns for your hair or around your neck.
    • Skull jewelry, chunky rings, and layered necklaces for a rebellious flair.
    • Oversized sunglasses and fringe bags for a boho touch.
  5. Textures and Layers
    • Mixing textures is key to this style. Pair chunky knits with soft satins, or rough denim with flowing chiffon.
    • Layering is your best friend. Think a leather jacket over a vintage slip, finished with a cozy scarf.

I have a pretty solid collection to check out on my ShopMy & Amazon Storefront if you’re shopping for new and/or need a pronto delivery, or if you have the time to search I highly recommend shopping secondhand at local thrifts or Depop, Poshmark, Etsy, and Ebay.

Here is a list of some of the essentials to inspire you! Leather, fringe, lace, buckles, silk, skulls, how much more moto boho could it get?

How to Thrift for Moto Boho

Moto boho is all about sustainability and individuality, making thrifting the perfect way to build your wardrobe. Here are some tips for scoring the best finds:

  • Focus on Quality: Look for natural fabrics like leather, silk, cotton, and denim. These materials not only last longer but also age beautifully.
  • Check Every Section: Don’t limit yourself to the women’s section. Some of my best T’s and bandanas came from the men’s and kids’ racks!
    • The kids section is especially great for finding those perfect-fitting baby T’s. Also, there are often lots of Harley Davidson options here, while they are often picked over in the adult section.
  • Think Beyond Trends: Thrift stores are filled with timeless, one-of-a-kind pieces. Look for items that speak to your personal style rather than chasing fleeting trends.

Leading the Girls into 2025

Moto boho isn’t just a style; it’s a declaration of freedom and individuality. It’s for the dreamers who crave adventure, the artists who see beauty in the unconventional, and the rebels who dare to be different, no hog necessary! (though it is encouraged!)

As we charge into 2025, I’m here to guide you through this aesthetic and help you make it your own. Let’s embrace the leather and lace, the grit and grace, and show the world what it means to live authentically.

So grab your favorite thrifted leather jacket, throw on a vintage silk slip, and lace up your combat boots. Moto boho is here, and it’s time to ride into 2025 in style.

Start Here: Why I Began This Blog (and Why You Should Stick Around)

"Know that Strega Nona was right when she said the joy is a radical act
—BE MORE FUCKING RADICAL, MAN!"

Table of Contents

Let’s rewind to 2023. That was the year I decided to put myself out there online. Armed with a few TikToks and some Instagram posts showcasing my pinstriping skills, I thought, “Yeah, this will be fun!” Fast forward a few months, and I had accidentally fallen headfirst into the chopper culture. Somewhere between painting badass chopper fenders and binge-watching Easy Rider, I had an epiphany: I don’t want to be just one thing.

And thus, this blog was born.

Why I Started This Blog

Look, I’ve spent 30 years on this rock, and if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that life’s too short to fit into anyone else’s box. I’m here to foster a sense of community for people like me—the ones who:

  • Rebuke conformity like it’s a bad tattoo idea.
Note: I quite like bad tattoos and bad tattoo ideas, but you get what I’m saying.

  • Have never fit in and have no intention of changing that. Shine bright, you superstar, you.

  • Love self-expression or want to embrace it more freely.

This space isn’t just about me; it’s about us. It’s about inspiring and educating, sharing my passions, and helping others do the same.

What You’ll Find Here

When I say I want to showcase all my passions, I mean it. This isn’t just another art blog or a motorcycle journal—it’s a chaotic cocktail of everything I love. Expect posts about:

  • Art: From painting to tattooing to creating on any surface that stands still long enough.

  • Style: Moto-boho-vintage outfits that scream, “I’m here to ride and make a statement.”

  • Travel: The grittier, dive-bar-studded side of exploration—think chopper rallies and dusty road trips.
Astrology & Spirituality: Because I’m a sucker for the stars and a good manifestation ritual (fire optional, but encouraged).
Life: All the messy, beautiful, unpredictable parts of being human.

Where I Want to Take This Blog

Here’s the dream: I want this space to grow into a full-blown community where creativity, individuality, and rebellion against the ordinary thrive. Whether you’re into choppers, art, vintage style, or just figuring out who the hell you are, there’s a spot for you here.

I want to inspire you to:

  1. Chase your passions like your life depends on it (spoiler: it kind of does).

  2. Create art that makes people stop, stare, encourages critical thinking, or FEEL!

  3. Know that Strega Nona was right when she said the joy is a radical act—BE MORE FUCKING RADICAL, MAN!

Breaking Free from the Cult Mindset

Let’s get real for a second. The world loves to tell us what to do: follow trends, do X, Y, and Z, and if you’re not keeping up, you’re doing it wrong. It’s a cult-like mindset that’s all about conforming to someone else’s idea of success or happiness. But here’s what I’ve learned and what I want to teach others: the only path worth following is the one you discover within yourself.

Your own intuition will lead you on the right path—and ONLY your own intuition. That’s how you break the mold and find your way. Let go of the ego attachments that keep you tied to other people’s expectations, and redirect your energy to your soul’s true path.

This blog is a space to explore that journey together. Whether it’s through art, style, or spirituality, we’re here to embrace our individuality and pave our own way.

Why You Should Stick Around

This blog is my way of saying, “Hey, fitting in is overrated—and honestly, kind of boring, isn’t it?” It’s a love letter to self-expression, a middle finger to monotony, and an open invitation to anyone who’s ready to embrace their authentic self.

So, whether you’re here for the chopper stories, the painting tips, or just to see if I actually manage to post consistently (spoiler: I’m trying), welcome. You’ve found your people.

Now, let’s get radical.

Why I Think Resolutions Are Bullshit, and My 10 Resolutions Manifestations for the New Year

Why I Think Resolutions Are Bullshit,
and My 10 Resolutions Manifestations for the New Year

Table of Contents

Let’s get one thing straight: New Year’s resolutions are a load of crap. You know it. I know it. Everyone who’s ever bought a gym membership on January 1st and ghosted by February 3rd knows it. That’s why, this year, I’m saying “no thanks” to resolutions and embracing manifestations instead.

But not the frou-frou “just ask the universe, and it’ll plop into your lap” kind. Nope. These are down-to-earth, gritty, get-your-hands-dirty goals—and I’m adding a little witchy ceremony to keep things interesting. Let’s dive into my 10 manifestations for 2025.

1. Focus on Tattooing and Becoming a Better Tattoo Artist

Step one: ink more skin, cry less about shaky lines, and figure out how to use a tattoo machine without looking like I’m defusing a bomb. Manifestation: become the go-to artist for clean, classic tattoos that don’t scream “first mistake in Vegas.”

2. Learn More About Astrology

I already know my sun, moon, and rising signs (obviously). But this year, I’m leveling up. By 2025, I want to be the friend who can casually ruin someone’s life with a single birth chart reading. Manifestation: turn my zodiac obsession into an art form—possibly literal art on bodies and canvases.

3. Consume Less

It’s time to stop shopping like I’m trying to stockpile for an apocalypse. This year, I’m focusing on using what I have. Manifestation: Marie Kondo my life without losing my edge (or my favorite boots).

4. Listen to More Pink Floyd

You know what the world needs? More people blasting “Comfortably Numb” on a Tuesday afternoon. Manifestation: channel Pink Floyd vibes into everything I create. If you catch me painting or tattooing with “The Wall” as my soundtrack, don’t interrupt. I’m in the zone.

5. Meditate Daily and Stretch

Every morning, I’ll sit my butt down, clear my head (or try), and stretch like I’m auditioning for a yoga cult. Manifestation: channel inner peace… or at least stop getting pissed off in traffic.

6. Create High-Quality Video Content

No more shaky camera footage that looks like it was filmed on a potato. This year, I’m all about cinematic vibes. Manifestation: moody, aesthetic videos that make my art and life look effortlessly cool (even if they’re not).

7. Develop My Painting Skills

I’m ready to take my canvas game to the next level. Enamel on metal? Acrylic on canvas? Both, please. Manifestation: make art that’ll have people begging, “Take my money!”

8. Be Consistent with My Blog

Consistency is hard when you’re juggling a million things, but this year, the blog is getting the love it deserves. Manifestation: write posts that inspire, entertain, and maybe even convince people to embrace their weirdness.

9. Say “Oh La, La” More

This year, I’m all about sprinkling a little more flair into my life. Manifestation: bring back the art of delighting in the little things, one “oh la, la” at a time.

10. Prioritize Responses Over Reactions

This year, I’m working on thinking before I snap. Manifestation: become the calm, collected person who doesn’t start fights with strangers over nonsense. (It’s a long shot, but hey, I’m manifesting.)

The Ceremony: Manifesting Like a Badass

Here’s where it gets fun. Every morning, after my meditation and stretch (see #5), I perform a ceremony with my trusty metal burn bowl. Let me be clear: this isn’t some over-the-top spooky ritual. It’s me sitting in my living room, trying to tame my ADHD by focusing on things I get to light on fire. And honestly, it works.

Here’s how it goes:

  1. Cleanse the Bowl: I cleanse the bowl with incense, palo santo, or smoldering matches. (Glass bowls work too, but I like metal for the dramatic clang when I set it down.)

  2. Add the Ingredients: Inside the bowl, I layer my magical mix:

    • Mugwort: For protection, femininity, dreamwork, and psychic abilities.
    • Cinnamon (sticks and ground): To attract abundance, positive energy, and enhancement.
    • Black Salt: For protection (and because it looks badass).
    • Dried Flowers: Used in a past ceremony to honor my Leo-in-Venus placement (10th house career—yeah, I’m kind of a big deal).
    • Bay Leaves: For manifesting like a pro.
  3. Light the Candles: I burn red and green chime candles during my meditation.

    • Red: Represents protection, strength, courage, passion, lust, sex, and power.
    • Green: Represents growth, luck, fertility, vitality, creativity, and prosperity.
  4. Burn the Manifestation: Using the flame from both candles, I light one manifestation slip on fire and toss it in the bowl. Then, I watch it burn and attempt to scry (think Melisandre from Game of Thrones).

By the end of the year, the last slip left is the one meant to be my focus. It’s a daily grounding ritual that reminds me I have big dreams and no time to waste. Sure, it might not be as iconic as Jimmy Carter’s peanut farming days or as flashy as carrying a Walmart Birkin bag, but hey, it works for me.

The Final Manifestation

Resolutions may be bullshit, but intentional, badass goal-setting isn’t. So here’s to a year of creating, growing, and maybe, just maybe, becoming the kind of person who doesn’t immediately laugh at the phrase “New Year, New Me.” Cheers to 2025! Happy New Year 2025!
